Thousands of children in Gaza suffer from the risk of acute malnutrition, as about 15,000 children were found to be suffering from malnutrition, including 3,288 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, after examining about 240,000 children in the Strip since the beginning of this year.
WHO supports the malnutrition treatment center at Kamal Adwan Hospital, northern Gaza, one of four facilities operating in this field in the Strip.
Hossam Abu Safia, director of the hospital, says: “Until this moment, we have counted approximately 5,000 children. A third of the cases have symptoms of malnutrition. 25 percent of these cases did not undergo intensive treatment because these cases were classified as malnutrition with complications. And now this The cases are in the malnutrition treatment department at Kamal Adwan Hospital. The influx of cases with their complications means that this is a stop – God forbid – before death.”
